The Skandals
The Skandals were a ska band active in 2005 in Nairobi. No studio recordings of the band were produced however a handful of live recordings like this from the "Revenge of Punk" concert exist. The band incorporated Saxophone, two guitars and drum and bass to perform their own takes of songs like "Heroin" by the infamous Choking Victim band of New York. Two of their own songs are captured live here too: "Big City," a homage to the Fish and Chips shop in Westlands Nairobi which was often the starting and ending point for a night out on the town; and "Three's never a crowd." The Skandals were one of those great original acts that tend to emerge from hybrid bands that form from many different contemporaneous bands in the scene - Everady Silver, WTF, Navarone, Haggis and Class Suicide!
