Mortal Soul
Even though they have not released an album since 2013 Mortal Soul remain the undisputed champions of the Kenyan Heavy Metal Scene. Their EP Ashes in the Wind is the album that notched Kenya unto the upper echelons of the metal critics and has since put out a solid signal of the versatility and sophistication that is abundant in the Kenyan Rock phenomenon.
Leon Malu, producer and vocalist+rhythm guitarist for the band is amongst the most sought after producers for the local scene. He produced a string of hits for other bands like Rash. You can get an idea of the trajectory of this the band by looking at Malu’s collaborations: Enunciating cosmic determinism as guest vocalist for Fior Tiori ; producing and tracking the guitar work for the most brutal grind core act, Lust of a Dying Breed
